Google Pixel Mobile Cinema
…that time we turned the Pixel 5 into a home cinema. Lockdown proof.
As lockdown set it, the need for classic films was ever-growing.
Google have stepped in to help out and have provided 40 films to stream for free … but not without a challenge: people had to find them on Google Maps using clue.
We’ve scattered some of Britain’s most and nostalgic (and rewatchable) movies across Google Maps to watch for free in a virtual lockdown Easter egg hunt. Participants were able to search a map of the UK to find the clues and locations, with the flicks then being made available to watch from any location. Titles on offer included Skyfall, Shaun of the Dead, Wallace & Gromit and, Phantom Thread—all big British hits and all with a special connection to a location.
‘Google Pixel Presents Mobile Cinema will allow the nation to rediscover these films from our past and instantly transport themselves, whether they’re on the sofa, in the park, or moving between rooms – Pixel 5G will allow you to download and watch these films instantly.’
To kick off the hunt, we wanted to grab the attention of our influencers - we created a seeding box that turns your Google Pixel into a mobile cinema. This seeding kit, a stylish retro lunch box on the outside, become a miniature cinema once opened. Inside there was red velvet padding, reminiscent of a cinema decor, with a stage and holder for your new movie screen, the Pixel 5.The pack will contained items that enhanced the movie experience and when removed become the perfect cup, snack and ear bud holders during the film.
